After serving in Vietnam and graduating from Parsons School of Design in 1970 and apprenticing in architectural firms in New York, Jerusalem and Chicago, Jerome Eastman opened his own Interior Design studio in Chicago in 1975.

The new studio included a wide spectrum of design disciplines, from office, retail and residential to furniture and hospitality, ultimately focusing on restaurant and club house development. In 1988, Eastman became excited about a new trend in the industry and developed one of the first brew pubs in Chicago, “Tap & Growler”.

After winning Gold and Silver medals at the “Great American Beer Festival” in Denver, it was back to concept development in the design business, helping others succeed.

In addition to spending 10 years teaching a design class at Harrington Institute of Design and five years as a founding Director of the Board of Harrington, Eastman continues to help his clients with landmark solutions that endure in the market place.

“I have worked with Jerome for over 20 years designing, developing, and executing restaurant concepts with multiple platforms and clients. They include restaurants, hotels/resorts, and clubhouses for golf developments. Jerome knows that people don't go to restaurants to eat.

Jerome has great vision as a designer, but he is also the best space planner that I have ever worked with. This is a much overlooked talent in restaurant design. It is an extremely important, and very overlooked art form crucial to the success of any restaurant operation.

I have found Jerome to have a unique perspective for each job creation, and his research into every project is exhaustive.

Because Jerome has visited many of the world's greatest cities, and experienced many different cultural offerings, I know that whenever we collaborate together, a one of a kind restaurant becomes a reality. It's very fun and exhilerating to see a project unfold.

To finish, Jerome is very creative, the most important talent we all look for in a designer, but he is also extremely practical and sensitive to design's relationship with operations. Most of all, he's a fun guy to work with and knows how to bring dreams to life.”

“We have worked with Jerome Eastman and Eastman Design Studio for over twenty years. During that time he has designed two offices, a small one (four offices) and a larger one (fifteen offices), two residences in Chicago and two residences in Vancouver, and a restaurant in Maple Ridge BC. All these projects had a high commitment to excellence and a timeless quality that made them a joy to experience and helped them hold their value when the time came for us to move on. In fact, the design was an important consideration to all the buyers of our homes. We are currently anticipating our next project in the coming year.
